I know what you mean about waiting for Albany. Thankfully most of the death certificates I sent for so far were from local municipalities in Westchester, one in Dutchess, and one in the City of NY....all were in my mailbox in less than 2 weeks. Odd that the censuses didn't show something. Is it possible that she died in New Rochelle but didn't LIVE in New Rochelle?? My great grandfather George Washington Smith lived in Ossining but died in a Veterans' Parade in Rochester. If I hadn't known that he didn't actually live there, I could have been looking in the wrong censuses.
