    1. Clarification - Scovilles & Book
    2. Perhaps I should have made myself a little clearer on the line I am doing. I guess I've done it for so long I assume everyone knows what I'm talking about! :~) I am tracing the descendants of the immigrant Arthur Scovel, who came from County Dorset, England about 1660 to America. He first settled in Boston, MA, then removed to Lyme & Middletown, CT. It has been conjectured that John Scovel was his brother as they settled around the same time and many of John's descendants were living in East Haddam, CT along with Arthur's descendants AND Arthur did name a son "John",so it is probable. It is Arthur's great-grandson's that I am researching. Stephen Scoville (Stephen, Arthur) b. in Lyme or E. Haddam, CT 20 August 1706; d. after 13 April 1778; m. Rebecca MILLARD of E. Haddam. Their children: 1. Stephen, b. 19 Sept 1729 (d. 1751 in Cornwall, he intended to settle there) 2. Samuel, b. 29 Sept. 1731; m. Ruth Squires; #2 Mary Rowland [subject of my book] 3.Rebecca, b. 25 November 1733; m. Medad Thornton 4.Sarah, b. 7 March 1763; d. 15 August 1736 5.Timothy, b. 20 September 1737 [my ancestor and subject of book] 6.Henry, b. 16 March 1740; m. Martha Taylor 7.Sarah, b. 15 May 1742; d. 27 August 1749 8. Elizabeth, b. 28 January 1744 9. Hannah, bapt. January 1745-46 at E. Haddam First Church 10. Irene, b. 20 July 1748 11.Stephen, b. 4-15 January 1752; m. his cousin, Mary Scoville[the subject of my book] Certainly, if you are descended from any of the siblings of Timothy, Samuel, Stephen, I would love to hear from you. Also, I do run the Scoville mailing list that encompasses the lines of Arthur and John, if you would like to join us, let me know privately please. I hope this clarifies what I am looking for and want to thank those who have written to me and offering their help. It is appreciated. Janice
