Dean in Naples Twp., Ontario Co., NY in the 1860 Federal Population Schedule p. 336. There is also a Herman Dean in Steuben Co., Pulteney Twp. NY in the 1860 Fed Pop Sched., p. 017. This shows up on p. 007 of the NY Census. There is a Herman Dean in Kings Co., 19 W. Brooklyn Twp., NY in the 1870 Fed Pop Sched., p. 460. No other references could be found.
