    1. Church Indexing Project
    2. I am hoping someone on the list can help me. Sometime ago I came across a message from someone who was undertaking indexing some of the churches in upstate NY. I know he was planning on Washington County and some in Albany. Does anyone know who this individual was? I now have some spare time and want to give a hand if he still needs help. Bob Colvin

    3. Re: War of 1812 Rosters. There are no comprehensive published War of 1812 rosters for New York state. The New York State Archives holds copies of the militia pay records on cards, but you have to go there to use them. The pay records contain full name, unit, and often location where the unit was raised. ---------- > From: GEN-NYS-D-request@rootsweb.com > To: GEN-NYS-D@rootsweb.com > Subject: GEN-NYS-D Digest V99 #122 > Date: Sunday, August 08, 1999 7:21 PM >

Its claim to fame (at least to me who was about 13 at the time!) -- the first McDonalds in the Utica/Rome area was in Yorkville. If you need me to find out more, Mary, e-mail me back and I can ask my mother who knows *everything* about *everything* in that neck of the woods! Marsha Strong; Gainesville, FL

Even more fun... Yorkville is also a small suburb of Utica in Oneida County. It can be found in the New Hartford-Whitesboro-New York Mills area. I really don't know what makes it a seperate place from the others I mentioned, because it pretty much is made up of commercial land...in fact, the "main drag" is called Commercial Drive. Hope I was more help than confusion... ---Ray Warner rwarner@nova.dreamscape.com "Knowing the path is not the same as walking it." -Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), 'The Matrix'

    2. I've been a subscriber to civilwardata.com for more than a year. It's inexpensive, and you get a lot of info. Each soldier in the file will normally have their name, unit, when enlisted and mustered out. Many people have the town they enlisted from, and some have notes about wounds or promotions. There's also a lot of info about the units themselves. Asa Gage
