I am looking for information on my Great grandparents. Their names are Harold Estes and Fern Ruth Pangborn. This is the only real information I have on them, But since my grandmother came from NY state I am guessing that's where their from. Since my grandmother was born in 1926 and was the second oldest, it is likely her parents were born around the turn of the century. I would be greatful for any information. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

----- Original Message ----- From: Kristin M. DeCare To: GEN-NYS-L-@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, August 13, 1999 7:58 AM Subject: GAREAU /GORROW/ GARROW I am researching my Gareau ( dit Saintonge) family line from Quebec to St Lawarence County and then onto Oswego County. My great grandfather Joseph Gorrow ( Grow ) was born in or around the town of Ogdensburg, NY in 1874, and there is no record so far of his parents, birth or baptism. I only have some photocopies of information that he says he was born at this time and place. I am trying to connect him to Joseph Gareau and Marie Louise Monet dit Boismenu. One of their 5 children could have been his parent. Please visit my web site and see if you can help with this mystery. Then please e mail me direct if you think you have any information or can help.Sincerely Kristin www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/e/c/Kristin-M-Decare searching for GAREAU GORROW GARROW MONET DICAIRE

If you know the exact locality and date of the event you can usually get reasonably prompt service from the local City/Town/Village vital records clerk. (Vital records for events within New York City are an entirely different matter.) Regards, Charles Sullivan >> What many people may not know is that New York State Vital Records can be gotten in a week or two if the request is hand delivered to the Dept. of Health in Albany. For the past year this has been the case. It is true that after you find the town in the New York State vital records index which is also at NARA on Varick Street, you can directly deal with the town clerk but if a problem arises you now have the alternative with the hand delivered request if you do not want to wait several months. Obviously if you cannot get to Albany you can hire a professional genealogist or records searcher to do this for you in Albany. Joan Koster Morales Historica
Fellow Searchers, I am looking for dental or medical schools in New York State. Parmenas F. Olney (our great grandfather) b. 1821 in Prattsburg, NY would have attended school about 1840. He may have had a doctors degree, but became a dentist (D.D.S.). After his schooling, he returned to Prattsbury to practice until about 1865 and then migrated to Dixon, California where he continued his dental practice. Any information on possible schools during this period of time, and where their records might be kept would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Nina Olney
Can anyone tell me how to access the Bride index for NY for years between 1942-1950. Do I have to specify a county or can I access the whole state? If I can only do a county, I need Kings and Bronx and what ever county Long Island falls under. If anyone can help me with this information I would be very greatful. Thanks, Connie
Hi Karen, I thought I just went back in time when I read your post. About the chest full of pictures and records, my sister did that 45 yrs. ago. You sure brought back memories. Marge
