Am seeking information on the Neer family, especially the marriage of Elmer Neer to Ina?. the 1900 census has him living in Sparta Township, Crawford County, Pa. it was reported that he had been married for only 5 years, which would take the marriage back to approx. 1895. there is no listing for the marriage in the marriage license docket 1885 to 1951 for Crawford County. Is it possible he could have married in N.Y. and then moved to Pa. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Hi, Rooters, I have Henrietta WICKHAM born 8 Feb 1857 in Rockaway, NY (now Lawrence I believe). Her family moved to West Hoboken, NJ (now Union City) between 1865 when a younger brother Nelson Grant was born in New York and Apr 1870 when her younger sister Lillian was born in New Jersey. In the 1870 census, post office was listed as "Jersey City Heights" West Hoboken, NJ. In the 1880 census they were living at Weehawken Street in West Hoboken, NJ. Henrietta had the following siblings: Eliza E. WICKHAM b. ca 1850; Isabelle WICKHAM b. ca 1853; John Franklin WICKHAM b. ca 1859; Ella Cornelia WICKHAM b. ca 1861; Nelson Grant WICKHAM b. ca 1865; Lillian WICKHAM b. ca 1870 in New Jersey. She might have had brothers John Philips WICKHAM b. ca 1845 and James McWhorty WICKHAM b. ca 1848. All children born in New York, except Lillian who was born in New Jersey. Henrietta's father was John WICKHAM, born in England. His occupation is listed as Miller on the 1850 and 1870 census. Her mother Rachel Eliza ? born in New York. In the 1870 census John was 46 and Rachel was 40. If the John and Eliza WICKHAM I found in the 1850 5th Ward, Brooklyn census is them, and if the first children were theirs, Rachel was 15 when the first was born. Their dates have consistently gone up by 10 years in each census, so sounds right; but I sure wasn't ready for children when I was 15. I found no sign of them on the 1900 census. On 12 Oct 1879, Henrietta married William Orin MALLETT in New Milford, CT. She died on 31 Oct 1918 in Middletown, CT and was buried with William in New Milford, CT. Henrietta was my great grandmother and has been a brick wall for some time. Information comes from the death and marriage records of Henrietta and census records. I have no birth record and doubt if one is available. I would love to know more about her parents, expecialy her mother's maiden name. Any direction or suggestions are welcome at this point. TIA Cindy Clark

PERKINS-DORCHESTER HISTORY Posted by Kevin O'Brien <USER683614@AOL.COM> on Tue, 31 Aug 1999 Surname: PERKINS, DORCHESTER I am seeking any information anyone can provide me regarding the family of Nathaniel PERKINS. He was my great-great-grandfather. Nathaniel was born(I believe) in Hounsfield around 1825. On December 28,1848,he married a beautiful lass named Martha DORCHESTER,the daughter of Hooker Dorchester. Nathaniel and Martha had nine children (that I know of):Harriet "Hattie" 1850,Caroline (my great-grandmother)1852, Emma 1854,Kathryn "Kate" 1855, George 1857,Jackson 1859,Chloe 1862,Alfred 1868,and Bertha 1870. In 1862 Nathaniel enlisted in the Civil War Army, serving in Company H of the 10th New York Heavy Artillery, where he served until 1864 when he transferred to the U.S.Navy. The family then settled in Richland Township,Michigan. Nathaniel passed away there in 1907 and Martha in 1913. Does anyone know the names of Nathaniel's parents? Did he have any siblings? Most importantly, are their any other living descendants. I have compiled an extensive family history that I will gladly share and I'm planning on sending a copy of the finished book to the Flower Memorial Library. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Kevin M. O'Brien Laguna Hills, CA
My GGGGgrandmother, Sarah de la Farge, was born about 1750 in France. She married Silas Howland of Darthmouth MA about 1768. All their children were born in Syracuse, NY. I have been unable to find out much about either. Actually, nothing more on her. I know there was a famous family from Jean de la Farge who married Louise Josephine Binsse in about 1834 in LaFargeville, Jefferson Cty, NY and moved to NYC where their son, John was a famous stained glass artist and contemporary of Tiffany. I know the Binsse family was commenorated at the Methodist Church in Shrub Oak, Putnam Cty, NY. John, the artist, married Margaret Mason Perry, the granddaughter of Oliver Hazard Perry (the American Naval hero), and he died in Providence, RI where they lived. They also had a home in NYC. I have never been able to link this family to my Sarah but there are so few de LaFarges that I think they are, perhaps, related. I would appreciate any and all information on the surname de LaFarge or LaFarge. Audrey

Could someone advise me about how to get a Declaration of Intention. I have my gggrandfathers citizenship certificate, dated Oct, 1888, which says 'formerly of Germany...now at Rochester. This form has the Monroe county clerk of courts signature and the Monroe county seal. When I call the courthouse and bounce around menus, finally a person who doesn't know what I'm talking about recomends Buffalo. There I can't even connect with anyone. So far I just get long waits and menu options. I am trying to find place of origin and residence in New York, so I know where to look for daeth and marriage records. Are there any indexes for either Monroe County or Oswego County or census indexes?. All I got is Carl's citizenship certificat (Carl then became Charles) and their names and ages when they left Germany (Prussia)in 1881. Felten, Carl, age 46 years, male, carpenter Emilie, 43, female, wife Anne, 17, female Elise, 7, female Herm[ann], 6, male Emil, 5, male Any advice would be appreciated. Hi John; My surnames from Canada are LaVoie and Longdaue. After they settled in the good old USA they wanted to Americanize their names so Lavoie became LaVoy and Longdaue became Longdo. Also sometimes people weren't very well educates and spelled their names how they sounded. Other times if a name was given to someone elso to write they in their haste spelled it any which way. I am trying to find information on Jeremiah Oakley born ABT. 1786 in New York. He died ABT 1862 in Ohio. He is listed in the 1860 Census in Auglaize County, Union TWP. He is listed having a Sarah A.Oakley age 17. An Elizabeth Bennet 50 born in N.J, Hiram Bennet 20, born in Ohio. I wonder if Elizabeth might be his daughter but of course that doesn't have to be.
