    3. The New York State Library says that they own part of the 1905 census for Erie county, but the notation says "incomplete". It doesn't seem to be listed in the Family History Library catalog online. 1. Re: Finding vital records
    2. NColeman
    3. Dear Gary: You need to apply to the Town Clerk where the event took place. Within each county in NY State there are Town subdivisions (in other states this subdivision is commonly called "township"). For instance, in Nassau County there are three Town subdivisions: Hempstead, North Hempstead, and Oyster Bay. All smaller villages, hamlets, etc. fall within one of these towns. So, you need to find out the "Town" name of the place that they died is located. You then write to that Town Clerk for the vital record you are interested in. Best regards. Nancy. 1. Revolutionary Info NY
    2. Hi Kathy, The book that lists most all of the military units of New York in the Revolution is: "New York in the Revolution as Colony and State, by James A. Roberts, Comptroller, Second edition 1898 Compiled by Frederic G. Mather, Volume II, 1901. They had a copy at the local Library out here in California. If your Library doesn't have it, they can probably get it on interlibrary loan. IT gives the commanding officers, then the officers then the enlisted men in each military unit..... His birth location is listed on one form as Canada and on another as Ontario County, NY. Joseph's parents were Richard Hays (Hayes) and Agnes Kitcher.
