Here is a way to get a readable copy of this ..... I am assuming you have the ' census film roll ' and have it on a reader / printer , Put the other lens in the reader !! , They ( library / nara / whatever ) should have two or more lens for the readers , one will be for one size of film image with a certain magnification setting , another lens will be for another size film / image , by using one or both of these lens you can change the size of the image you can printout , Then just focus on the name / part you can not read and ZOOM it out to maximum magnification ..... Dear Friends, I'm trying to find information on Fr. William HOWARD, a Catholic Priest working out of Utica in the 1840's/1850's who attended Roman Catholics in several small towns who didn't have an established church yet. I'm particularly interested in my Irish relatives, Michael FLYNN and wife, Mary HOLLORAN from Ireland who married about 1850 in Hudson, Columbia Cty., NY. St. Mary's Church in Hudson, records don't start until 1855 and I learned of the baptism of their third child and my ggrandmother's maiden name thru those records but earlier sacramental records of Fr. HOWARD are not to be found, as I've been told by the Albany Archdiocese. I've been trying to talk to an archivist in the Syracuse Diocese (which Utica belongs to) but his hours are sporadic and I haven't been able to get him. Would anyone know anything of this Priest or a book about him? If he was of a particular order perhaps the records are in the order's home archives. I would greatly appreciate any info you can provide on this topic. Thank you. Mary L. Casey in Michigan
If someone can be kind enough to look up p. 145 on the 1860 Broome Co. census for the town of Maine for James & Judith HOGG, they might be able to break down a brick wall for me. It lists James Hogg born Ettrick, Scotland and Judith HOGG born ______, England. I cannot read the name of the town in England. Even printing it, I couldn't quite make it out. I only got Ettrick because I knew the family history. Judith HOGG was a TUCKEY and if I can find out where she was from, I can break down this brick wall for 4 or more individual families. Maybe someone can read the roll better or has access to Ancestry or the census CD ...... I would be eternally grateful. Thanks. The brothers were not close but I'd like the info for my genealogy. Am happy to pay for copies. Thanks! Kathi Desko jkjdesko@willex.com

Hello Listers, I know this is a "shot in the dark" but thought I would try anyway, since I seem to have a lot of problems getting information from NY. My g.aunt Catherine BENCE, married Richard TREMBLEY, in Pittsfield, MA on June 25, 1879. At the time of her parents deaths !887 & 1900, she gave her residence (distribution papers) as Sand Lake, NY. In 1926, on the occasion of her youngest brother, John BENCE's (my grandfather) death, her residence is listed as Pittsfield, MA (again). In the family plot in Pittsfield Cemetery I find Willie Trembley-----no further information on him at this time. If anyone can connect with this family, I would love to share information. Any ideas or clues? Thank You, Margaret in NV

Although I do have the 15 CD FTM, I received it as a gift. I really like the program, but still have a lot to learn about it's options. As far as buying the 15CD pack, I wouldn't do it unless you get a great deal on it. You can get free lookups at http://genweb.net/~gen-cds/cdlist.html and they list a lot of the CDS. Just make sure that you go to FTM's site first (www.familytreemaker.com) and use their search for your family to make sure they are on any particular CD.
