    1. More ship passenger lists added
    2. Hello all! I just added 16 more ships to Firstmom's Genealogy Resources - Ship Passenger Lists, making that over 60 ship lists on the site now! And, one of the best additions, I added a search tool to the page! If using the search tool, keep in mind that names changed, were written/transcribed/heard incorrectly, so be sure to check for various spellings! If Plummer was written as Plumer, it won't show up on the search results...and so on. There are German, Irish, Italian, and Scottish ships included, plus links that will lead you to thousands more ship lists online, to search for free! http://khuish.tripod.com/ships.htm Good luck! And feel free to pass the above URL on to other lists, if the list administrator doesnt mind. Kathy PS. My NY Genealogy links page is still located at http://khuish.tripod.com/newyork.htm

    1. Long Island adoption
    2. j. wisniewski
    3. Hi, don't know if anyone can help me. My mother was born in Washington DC and adopted in Mineola, Nassau County. The adoption became final on February 3, 1032. Don't know if this is true, but I'm told that adoption records weren't sealed until 1936 and that her records might be available to look at or get a copy of. We already have what we believe was the birth mothers name and my mothers birth name. I'd like to verify this. All my life she's never been interested at all about this but now she would just like to know more. She doesn't want to meet anyone, but since she is not very healthy, all of a sudden she wants to know anything she can find out. She asked me to try to help. I've tried to figure out the adoption agency, the lawyers used, or anything. I'm hopeing that if I can get a copy of the court record this might answer some of these questions. Does anyone know how I would go about this? Since I don't live nearby, is anyone available to do a lookup? I'd be happy to pay for any copies you could get. If anyone thinks they can help me, please email me at [email protected] Thanks in advance for everyones assistance. joanne [email protected]

    2. BBFFRRPP
    3. Hello, Someone on the MA List was just asking about "Washington Village." Out of curiousity, I put that into a search at www.google.com and I found this web site .. which offers a short description of the town of Washington, MA. It looks like there is quite a bit of information about "The Berkshires" here: http://www.berkshireweb.com/themap/index.html You don't see the Berkshire Mountains mentioned very often on the Lists, but it probably has "a history." .... Just went to look.. found these: http://www.pittsfieldweb.com/history/ http://www.berkshireweb.com/themap/greatbarrington/history/ http://www.berkshireweb.com/themap/stockbridge/history/ http://www.lenox.org/history.html http://www.villagebeautiful.com/history/ http://home.att.net/~Local_History/MA-Berkshire-Co.htm Note: There is both a Washington, MA, and a Mount Washington, MA. See below: http://www.virtualcities.com/ons/ma/x/as/maxb0a35.htm and .... visiting the mountains... in general .... http://www.mtn-guide.com/sumovu.cfm/ma101.htm Have fun ... Betty (near Lowell, MA)

    3. I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. My sources are the following....... There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. .I also wish to thank the patience of those regular subscribers for my frequent postings. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. 3. Hello again: Thank you SO much to everyone who responded to my question about laborers. I've concluded now that I've learned that my g-g-grandfather was a laborer, that doesn't mean much. Does anyone have access to the 1889 and 1890 Kings/Queens/Manhattan Directory? If so, could you please lookup the surname PINTER in it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
