I have seen examples where messages are not shown by RootsWeb and, in this case, vice versa. I found Margit's responses (see below) only on RootsWeb and have included them below so others can refer to them. To me, Margit's findings seem quite plausible as a match. I suppose Andy could be a nickname of Anders as well as of Andrew. One place name in Norway is his birthplace and the other is the place he left. It is my experience that many dates in records are off by a year and sometimes several years, based on information differences from one source to another. Also there may be typographical errors in the search information as is likely in at least the death date here. Not to mention names that are badly mangled by census takers. There is also the Brooklyn, NY connection and the rarity of the Langaas surname in America. Anyway, Margit's information should be considered and I have copied it below for those viewing from other than the RootsWeb site. Regards, Phil From: Margit <snip> Date: Fri, 07 Mar 2003 09:05:09 -0600 I rechecked, and do not think this is your Hans in the 1930 census. I find a Anders Langaas coming to New York in 1922 from Vaale Norway. This would be the man in the census record. The same applies to Andreas. All called Andrew :-) And I also find Andy as a short name for them.
