Im searching for Hans Langaas. He arrived Usa in 1923, and he changed his name to Andy Jorgensen. He was born 1907 in Vestfold, Norway. He`s social security number were: 080-12-8502. He died may 1925. I hope that some of you may help me with some more information. Mette Gjertsen Tønsberg Norway

My belief is that it was not established until about 1936. You may want to verify the date of his death. From the leading three digits or so, the state in which he applied for social security can be identified. Here I'm guessing again, but 080 is probably New York. I looked for Andy Jorgensen in the SS Death Records and it came back with 38 Andrew Jorgensen's. Andy is a nickname for Andrew here. None of these records had the same three leading or four trailing numbers as the SS number you stated. Only one was born in 1907 and he lived in Wisconsin both when he acquired his number and when he died. There were no SS death records for Hans Langaas. Sorry, I couldn't help more. The record shows that he was born 30 Oct. 1907 and died in May 1975. His SS number was issued in NY and his last know residence was Brooklyn, NY 11201. In the 1930 census I find an Anders Langaas age 26 living here: 1930 U.S. Federal Census > New York > Kings > Brooklyn (Districts 1001-1250) > District 1174 He is married to a lady named Dagny who was born in Norway and is 24 years old. Looks like they are living on Fort Hamilton Parkway. I will send you a copy of it as a jpg.
