    3. Are there any special places that a person should visit that are extraordinary and not well advertised in Norway? I and two others will be there in the month of May. We like to take the trail least traveled in our searches of Norway. We appreciate all input. Thank you all, Margit

What about special interests (heritage, culture, nature, mountain walks?), and place of arrival and departure (Norway probably is a much larger country than you expect). Knut

There are parades throughout the country. Forget hiking, except for the forests surrounding Oslo; the trails will be muddy or even snow-covered. However, if you're into cross-country skiing, there should still be plenty of snow on Hardangervidda. You should check to see what the weather is like in the Lofotens and Hamarøy in May. If you want "the trail least travelled" these islands are definitely worth a visit. Go to Å, the town at the end of the road, and the end of the alphabet. :-) -- Bob Broughton http://broughton.ca/ Vancouver, BC, Canada "Anyone who believes Big Tobacco is a fool and an idiot." - Mary Herrin, mailto:[email protected] , Dec. 7, 2002

Along the coast of the southern part of Norway, there should be at least as dry and snow-free as around Oslo. And... there is nothing wrong with hikin on snow covered trails...if that's what you like :) Tommy
