Could someone who has access to the archivalieronline.dk database help me decipher a record? I'm reluctant to post a screenshot of the image if there are copyright or procedural restrictions, but will do it if this is permitted, just let me know. The record is a birth record from Tønder in the 1832-1864 database, Opslag 506. The top record is for Catharina Maria Petersen. My great-grandmother had this name and was born in Tønder, but according to her records her birthdate was Aug. 10, 1862, not April 20, 1862 as in this record. There's no Catharina Maria Petersen born on the date I have specified for her. I can't make out the names of the parents. On the 1878 passenger list when the family came to the States her father was listed as Peter Hansen Petersen and her mother as Elise Christina, but I can't read the parents' names clearly on Opslag 506; it doesn't look like Peter or Elise, however. The witnesses are difficult to read too. The first is a Catharina ____sen, the second unintelligible, and the third looks vaguely like Lorenz Peter Petersen---which, if true, is the same name as Catharina's future father-in-law. Can anyone help? I'd hate to jump to conclusions about what I'm reading. Maybe one of you can see the image more clearly than I can. ---- saki@ucla.edu
