Hello! Kari (Johnsdatter) Thorstad was born at Brøttum in Ringsaker, and emigrated as Kari Johnsdatter Forlibakken from Oslo April 25. 1866, and arrived Quebec June 7. 1866 (the ship was Manila). Kari is buried at Pigeon Creek Cemetery in 1914 (b. 1823), with her som Jonas Amundsen Thorstad (1846-1920). Her husband Amund Engebretsen Falibakken b. ca. 1826 was buried at Lower Coon Valley Cemetery in 1896. Kari and Amund also had the children Nils b. 1849, Simen b. 1854, Andreas b. 1859, d. 1869 and buried with his father at Lower Coon Valley Cemetery, Ole b. 1861, Eline b. 1843, Berte b. 1841 and Marte b. 1855. Kari had a brother Ole Johnsen, b. 1805 who emigrated with his second wife Berthe Syversdatter b. 1815. The bygdebok for Brøttum said they emigrated in 1855, but I really donŽt know if thatŽs correct. Oles son with his first wife Anne, emigrated to Amerika in 1865 with his wife Kristine Olsdatter Hauknes b. 1836 with Balder, captein Isaksen from Christiania May 7. 1865, and arrived Quebec June 29. 1865. Do any of you know this family? It is proberly tree families called Thorstad in Wisconsin - one from Balestrand, one from Drammen and my family from Brøttum in Ringsaker. Hilsen Liv Marit Haakenstad
