    3. Can anyone tell me anything about a family that left Selvik or Strommen Vestfold Norway on 06 Mar 1887 via the Angelo of the Helgesen line. I can find where father and I think seven children left on that date. Father is listed as a widower but youngest child is only 8 mo old so the loss of his wife must have been fairly recent. Here is what I have: I found a record with Jens Andreas Guttormsen's marriage to Ella Halvorsdr on 15 Dec 1872 in Strommen, Vestfold, Norway. The names and date are a good possibility for the family I am looking for. ( On Hilda's Social Security Application she gives her mothers name as Ellen Halvorson and says that she died before the family came to the US. ) There was a widower who left Norway with up to 7 children c 1887. His name (as I can find it) was Jens Guttormsen (May have been Jens Andreas Guttormsen of Vestfold, Norway). The four daughters I knew: Jensine Annette (b. 09/13/1874), Grew to adult and married John Fossum, had two children Earl and Pearl Hilda Katrina (08/18/1876), Grew to adult and married (1) can't remember (2) Rohde, had two children Anna Theodora (12/12/1884), Grew to adult and married Lars Christian Goskesen, had four children Thora or Tora (nmn) (10/24/1881). Grew to adult and married C. Meland, had two sons These are the ones I knew about as they survived to adulthood. I assume the birthdates are correct as that is how they listed them. One listed I can find nothing on: Hildor born about 1880 And there are two buried within the year of their arrival in Minnesota with names of Gusta Eljonora (d. 09/15/1887) Haldor (nmn)(d. 08/25/1887). I had partial records at one time that there was an Andreas, but did not find him in Minnesota so he possibly died before the family came over. If anyone has access to records in Strommen (where is that anyway?) or Selvik (this is what is listed as residence on the ships roster) I would be very appreciative of any assistance. The family shows up on \"Emigrants sailing from Kristiania 1871-1930\" as sailing 03.06.1887 on the Helgesen Angelo. The listings have numbers 95545-95552. Names are listed as: Jens Guttorms. (48 m e), Gunhild Guttorms.(20 k), Jensine Guttorms.(12 k), Gusta Guttorms.(10 k), Hildor Guttorms.(7 m), Thora Guttorms.(5 k), Anna Guttorms(2 k), and Haldor Guttorms. (8mo m). They are listed as having resided in Svelvig and heading for Ada Minnesota, which is where they ended up. I would love to nail this down while my father is alive, he will be 80 next year. His mother (Anna Theodora) was 45 when he was born and he never knew very much about her family.

    3. It seems that Elen Hansdatter was married to Guttorm Torgersen 08.12.1835 Hurum. You MAY find Guttorm's father and grandfather here in 1801: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f10628&gardpostnr=69&personpostnr=1521&merk=1521#ovre "AH Rønning" <Min@spam.adresse> skrev i melding news:l_drd.19553$Km6.243420@news4.e.nsc.no... > This is Svelvik or Strømm (Strømmen) near Drammen.
