I am searching for general historical information about the parish of Alfshög, which is near the cities of Varberg and Falkenberg in southwestern Sweden (Halland province). My ancestors lived in this parish for a very long time, and I am trying to find out what it may have been like for them to live there. I am writing a historical account of my family, and this information would be very helpful to me. If you have any details about the history of Alfshög and the surrounding area, I would be most grateful. I live in the United States, and this information seems impossible to find. A man named Sven Larsson wrote a book called "Vessige och Alfshög - Tvåsocknar i Ätrans dalgång" in 1996. I have been able to obtain a few translated pages from this book and learn some of the parish's history. However, I would like to attempt to reach this man directly, as he may be a good resource for me. Does anyone know how I might find his address? Secondly, I am trying to locate the land owner of a particular estate in Alfshög parish. My great-great-great-great-grandfather, Bengt Alfsson, who was born in 1707, was listed as the owner of the estate Kjerreberg 30 in Alfshög. I wonder where this residence (possibly a farm) is, and if it still exists. I would like to visit this site someday. Subsequent generations of my family also are listed as owning the estate Kjerreberg 30 in Alfshög. I have corresponded with a pastor in Alfshög, but he seemed reluctant to give me very specific information. He first said: "there is an estate in the parish of Alfshög namned Kärreberg, and it is situated in a rural area," but later said "I canŽt give you one name, as Kärreberg is the name of an area, not a single estate." I seem to think the number 30 may be an actual address or tract of land, but I do not know how to trace this without help from someone in the area. On a related note, my great-great-grandfather, Carl Petter Andersson, moved from Alfshög to the nearby parish of Ljungby and owned the estate Björnãs 2. I also would like to find general historical info. about Ljungby, as well as specific info. about the property where he once lived. I appreciate any thoughts/advice anyone has on these matters. Thank you, Paul Greenland

Does anyone know how I might find his address? Go to http://www.gis.lst.se/lanskartor/ and choose Halland and Falkenberg. The you can search for the coordinates "Sökning via koordinater" and enter X=6322016 Y= 1307040 A least you can see where it is. Today it is an area with several houses (and farms). You can zoom in on the map. > Secondly, I am trying to locate the land owner of a particular estate in > Alfshög parish.
