News from GEDCOMP. GEDCOMP is a 37 months old database for genealogists researching Danes. Submit a GEDCOM-file with information about the Danes you have interest in and you will receive E-mails with contact information on other genealogists researching those same persons. As of today GEDCOMP consists of 750 GEDCOM-files with information of a total of 1.271.000 persons. The 750 GEDCOM-files are submitted by genealogists in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, USA, Canada, Australia & Argentina. The observed frequency of success by submitting a GEDCOM-file with X persons: X Frequency Least Most % 3462 38371 100 1743 3461 100 1192 1742 100 875 1191 100 639 874 99 442 638 93 270 441 91 170 269 82 88 169 65 1 87 46 The table has been constructed as follows: The until now submitted GEDCOM-files are sorted according to the number of persons in each file and then put into 10 groups each containing the same number of GEDCOM-files. The %-age in each group is the fraction of files in this group where the submitter has received at least one E-mail with contact information on another genealogist. In fact, all submitters of files with information on at least 766 Danes have received one or more E-mails with contact information on other genealogists overlapping their research. Caveat: GEDCOM-files with 1000+ persons of which only about 100 are Danes do not have a 100% rate of success, but 'merely' about a 65% rate of success.
