"The Orhon inscriptions, also known as the Kosho-Tsaidam inscriptions - so called because they were found in Mongolia to the south of Lake Baikal, between the River Orkhon and Lake KoshoTsaidam. The monuments were discovered in 1889 by the Danish philologist Vilhelm Thomsen, who, four years later (1893), succeed in deciphering the ancient script. Thomsen also refered to the inscriptions as ‘Turkish Runes' implying a magical significance." http://www.turcoman.btinternet.co.uk/orkhon-inscription.htm - ---------------------------------------------------------------- For a Symphony of Voices from the Turk World - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Turcoman Internet Magazine http://www.turcoman.btinternet.co.uk - --------------------------------------------------
