What she'll need to know about your computer: PC or Mac? If Mac, what model? If PC, is it running windows? If so, is it 3.1, 95, 98, NT, or 2000? (it tells you this when it starts up). What processor do you have? If it's a 386 or 486, it's probably going to be pretty painful to use with a scanner, as it'll be very, very, VERY slow. How much memory does it have? If you're running windows 95 or later, you should be able to go to the icon "my computer", and right-click on it. It'll tell you how much memory & what processor you have. One last thing - does your computer have a USB connector on the back? If so, get a USB scanner. If not, you can get one that hooks on to the same cable as your printer, but it's slower in my experience than a USB. This should be enough information for her to find the right scanner for you.
