I would appreciate any help in determining and tracing the ancestry of Maria Pedersdatter Busk. According to the parish records for Alta/Talvic Parish (Finnmark,Norway), Maria was married there on August 21, 1851 to Poul-Fredrick Lundberg. The record also states that she was 18 years old at the time, that she was born in Pello (no indication as to which country), and that her father's name was Peder Busk. Maria and Poul-Fredrick remained in Alta until Poul's death in 1868. Maria was then remarried to Petter August Bjorkman. In June of 1872 Maria and Petter August emigrated to Hancock, Michigan via Trondheim. The couple later changed their surname to Burkman and moved on to Minnesota where both died. I've checked parish records for Pello in Finland (Turtola Parish) and Sweden (Alitornio Parish) but did not find any record for Maria Busk or Peder Busk. -- Buck Burkman Tallahassee, Florida
