The christening record for my ancestor Grethe Jorine Monsdaughter states that her parents were unmarried when she was born in 1827. Her father is listed as Mons Monsen from the farm Aase in Hoiland Parish and her mother is Guri Borrildsdaughter from Stangeland Vestre. I have found a Mons Monsen from the farm Aase in Hoiland but he is married (in 1829) to a Guri Lorentzdaughter and listed as having 7 children. Grethe Jorine is not among them. I have been able to establish parentage for Guri Borrildsdaughter and believe that she is found living alone on the 1865 census; while the census also shows Mons Monsen and Guri Lorentzdaughter living together.
