I am searching for Lars Onsager's parents. He was born in Oslo in 1903 and died in the US in 1976. He received the Nobel prize in chemistry in 1968. I know that his grandparents on his father's side were master tanner and bank manager Lars Onsager (born in Hole, Buskerud 1842, died in Drammen, Buskerud 1912) and Berte (Birte) Johanne Toverud (born in Lier, Buskerud 1847, died after 1922). Lars and Berte seem to have had at least two sons, Olaf Onsager, rentier, born in Drammen 1884, and Nils Onsager who lived in Oslo about 1927. Knut E.
