Dear List- According to on-line census records for Norway in 1900, my ancestor, Lina Lystad stated her birthplace as Hobbol, Ostfold in 1886. Her siblings stated Hobbol as birthplace also, but two (Emma and Ludvig) had Spydeberg crossed out. I have 3 questions: 1. I couldn't locate any ancestor names on LDS film for Hobbol, Norway. Should I try Spydeberg? Am I looking in the right place? 2. I understand the father's name was Johan Larsen (who was deceased by 1900), but all the children went by the name Lystad. This is a farm name. Does anyone know where the Lystad farm was located in Ostfold during 1880's and what parish it would be under? 3. Lina was a pleiedatter (foster-daughter) in 1900. Does anyone know the custom of this in Norway? Her mother was still living with the 2 youngest children. Would Lina's foster parents be a relative of some kind?
