    3. From The Cork Examiner, 1 October 1878 - A very sharp thing was done at sea last night. The Danish brig Johanna, laden with palm oil, from the African coast, spoke with the barque Forest, of St. John's, and the captain of the former vessel solicited that he should be taken off with his crew, and this was done. The captain of the Forest as soon as they were transferred, sent some of his own crew aboard the brig to take her into port, and they reached Falmouth to-night. The brig's crew abandoned their vessel because of her having six feet of water in her hold. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dennis Ahern | Ireland Newspaper Abstracts Acton, Massachusetts | http://www.IrelandOldNews.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    3. I am trying to find the death dates of 3 relatives who lived on Jåsund and Meland in Sola, and also Tananger: Torger Mikalson Meland born 19 Nov 1845, died after 1910 Jon Mandius Mikalson Jåsund born 12 May 1848, died after 1910 Tønnes Kristian Mikalson Meland born 11 Aug 1852, died after 1910 Where can I find records of deaths after 1910 in this area? None are on microfilm by LDS in Salt Lake City. Where might I write in Norway to obtain this information? Thanks for any suggestions. -- Michael VanBaaren Sacramento, California, USA E-mail: van_baaren (at) hotmail (dot) com

    3. Take a look at the Pedigree Resource File on www.familysearch.org and there is some information on these people. Bergitte OLSDTR. is born 14 Mar 1846 in Høyland, Rogaland, parents are Ola ASLAKSEN Myrland & Inger Kristine Knutsdtr. there is more information about her ancestors. She married Tønnes Mikkelsen on 12 Dec 1867 in Høyland kirke. Tønnes Mikkelsen, born 7 July 1840 Varhaug, Hå, Rogaland (per IGI on familysearch.org) parents are Mikkel Torjussen & Berta Margreta Svendsdtr. There are good bygdebøker for both Høyland and Hå that could guide you to more ancestors. Good luck! Try this URL: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebMeta.exe?slag=vismeny&fylkenr=&knr=&katnr=5&aar=&dagens=&emnenr=1 It seems not to be too many databases satisfying your needs. Most of the databases cover the time from about 1870 to about 1930. I just found one database covering the time before 1867, and that is a list from Stavanger. If your ancestor left Norway from another port, then I think you have to search somewhere else... If the page is not in English, you can change by clicking "English" (second link at the blue bottom-line). Good luck!!! Espen
