    3. I do not have any additional dates (birth or marriage) that would be of help, although I hope that I will. Another poster mentioned that there was also a farm name by "Teigen". I do not know what farm names imply but assume that this was used in their name?? Is there any type of shipping documents that one could search if one has the name of the husband/wife and the year they came over? 1. Emanuel Johansson
    2. Neal &/or Lee Ann Waltz
    3. Hello! I am looking for information on Emanuel Johansson (Johnson). Born March 26, 1849 in Locknevi Parish, Kalmarlan, Smaland, Sweden. He lived on Rangelbo Farm in Locknevi Parish. He married Lena Sophia Andersson (born May 10, 1849 on Vrangfall Farm in Locknevi Parish). Emanuel's father was Johan Mikkel Karlsson, Born 1818 in Kristdala, Kalmarlan, Sweden. Johan died in 1901 and was buried in Locknevi Parish Church Cemetery. Emanuel's mother was Lovisa ?. I do not know when she was born, but she died in 1889 and was buried in Locknevi Parish Church Cemetery. Emanuel had an older brother, August, who was born on May 14, 1845 and a younger brother Adolf Frederick, born 1851 on Rangelbo Farm, Locknevi Parish. Emanuel (age 35) emigrated to America in 1886, with his wife Lena and four children: Karl, Edward, Johan Alfred, and Anna (and a niece Christina Johnson). They eventually settled on a farm in Rush City (Nessel Township), MN in 1887. Any further information on Emanuel and/or his family in Sweden or emigration information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Lee Ann Waltz

Could you please give more details regarding your ancestor, such as birthyear? Note that there are several farm names in Norway named Teigen. A reason why your ancestor was registered with the name Peterson could be down to the authorities, not himself. He was probably son of a person named Peter or Peder - Peterson is a patronym. There was a Lars Pedersen Teigen at the place Teigen in Hafslo (under Sandvik) born in 1848, son of Peder Pedersen, b. 1810, and Kristens Torbjørnsdatter, b. 1815, cf. the 1865 census. You should check the censuses at http://draug.rhd.isv.uit.no/rhd/folketellinger_engelsk_britisk.html Lars' wife could be Oline Olsen from Luster, born 1852. Lars' father also came from Luster. Dag T. 2. J. Peterson
    3. Hello, I am trying to find out about the origins of my family and thought I would give this a try even though the information I have is limited. I am tracking down family members for further information. Supposedly, my g-g-grand-parent, Lars Theigen emmigrated from Norway in 1882 along with his wife to Vernon County, Wisconsin in the U.S.. His wife's last name was either "Olene Olson" or possibly a "Hanson". For some reason, once they arrived in the U.S., they changed their last name to Peterson. I was told that there was a small village by the name of "Theigen" in Norway but don't know if that is actually where they came from. This probably isn't enough information to go on until I able to obtain more, but thought I would try. Thanks for any assistance!
