    3. Hei Rose, Can you give me a birth date for Ingeborg, and do you have a farm name for her in Vang, Valdres? I'd be happy to help with your Vang information, with a few more clues that you might have. 3. I am trying to find my English great grandmother for my Family Tree. Her name is Mary Elizabeth Whitaker. She was born in England in about 1858 and married William Henry Selene on about 1876; he was an American Citizen in England and he died in 1887. Her daughter Edith Gertrude Selene was born 21 Mar 1878 and her son John Henry Selene was born in Wiggen England on 8 Nov 1880. My great grandmother brought the children over to America in 1887 and changed their last name to Sellen. My grandfather Charles Sellen was born in 1888. My great grandmother has two sisters, Mrs Chadwick with one son Ernest, and Mrs Rigby who has several children. She also has a brother, Richard Whitaker who has two sons; James Whitaker who lived in Bolton England and William Shaw Whitaker who lived in Leeds. Some of this information is from solicitors Coope & Kenyon in Bolton England on 21 Jan 1931. I worte a letter to them about 35 or 40 years ago requesting current addresses of the children but they ignored my letter. If you know anyone or you are decendants of any of these people, please let me know Thank you JEAN BENSON jbenson578@cybertrails.com 505 W SHERWOOD DR PAYSON AZ 85541

    2. Michael VanBaaren
    3. Here's another idea. I just returned from the LDS (Mormon) Family History Library in Salt Lake City, and they have the Central Bureau for Statistics lists of emigrants. You can check the LDS catalog (FHLC) for Hallands län and for the year he emigrated. You'll have to read the film parish by parish, but I've looked at Halland county for my ancestor, and it doesn't take very long. Once you find him in these records, it will give you the parish he came from. They list the name of the emigrant and usually the exact birthdate, although sometimes only the year of birth or the age. It will at least give you a parish in Halland in which to start your search without having to write to Sweden. It takes anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks to get a roll of microfilm from Salt Lake (at your nearest local LDS Family History Center) for a nominal fee (our center in Sacramento charges $4.00 per roll). 1. Bjorken farm family
    2. Hi all- New to the board and I am researching my paternal grandmothers side of the family. Margrete Henriksdatter, she was born in verdal, norway in 1895 and according to the online census information ive found her to be the daughter of Henrik P. Holman (b. 1869) and Anna Gurine Martinsdatter (b. 1873)... i seem to find no information on Henrik or his parents and would like any help i can find. further, Anna Gurine Martinsdatter is the daughter of Martin Thoresen (b. 1839) and Ingebor Anna Haftorsdatter (b. 1847), Ingebor is the daughter of Haftor Andersen (b. 1822) and Lorentze Jonsdatter (b. 1810) and Martin is the son of Thore Gabrielson (b. 1803) and Ingebor Olsdatter (b. 1802). This is where ive hit my brick wall... it seems all these people were born after the 1801 Census and therefore I cant find out who they were decendents of. Anybody who has any information or further info on various siblings (i have thier names too but am not listing them) all findings were in the municipality of Verdal with the following Domicile names: Skjordal - 1865 Census - Thore and Ingebor Birken - 1865 Census - Haftor and Lorentze Bjorken - 1875 Census - Martin and Ingebor Bjorken nedre - 1900 Census - Henrik and Anna from family history I know that Henrik, Anna and thier children moved to Illinois, USA somewhere around 1903. They used the name Holman in America and Margrete became Margaret Holman DeArmond after marrying French/Canadian decendent Eugune Field DeArmond (unknown date of marriage) and bore one son, Eugene Field DeArmond, Jr., my father. Anybody who has any information about any of the listed names please post or email me with any information thanks- Debbie Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

    3. The more explicit you make your search, the less likely there will be a hit - that's because any difference in any field will result in "not found." Start with more general searches and gradually refine them. Surname only, then surname and first name, etc. At least this way you know if there ANY persons in the database that may match. Finally, there is no guarantee that anyone will find any of their ancestors at this or any other web site. If someone hasn't researched it before or the records on your family haven't been microfilmed and extracted, then there will be nothing. Regards, Richard A. Do you know how I could verify that this is my Mathias? Olaus Mathiason b. 1813 was my gggrandfather. I had not seen the Olaus born in 1811, but I assume that he must have died.

    3. Maybe we should mention that it now allows searches of the UK to narrowed down to each county. This is very useful in narrowing down searches to probables in, say, Devon before having to scratch our heads and start looking at the possibles in Cumberland. 1. Finding answers...
    2. sharon sterle
    3. As we search and find answers, minute as they may be, and being able to substantiate the history of our descendants, is there something we as the family are able to do to add that information into a data base so that others that may follow us, not being interested or able to devote time to search, may have in the future. I personally have not reached the point of having every answer to my genealogical search but often wonder if there were others before me trying to put the pieces together or able to offer what turns out to be history for us. I was just wondering if we are a source of offering that proof. Sharon in Mn.
