I don't know Norwegian very well, but I assume you are looking for Motzfeldt's in Norway and Greenland. I have a few in my tree that lived in the late 1700's, namely Peter Motzfeldt, son of Ulrik Anton Motzfeldt and Birgitte Andrea Bull. He married Erneste Birgitte Margrete Stenersen at St.Thomas 24-SEP-1804. This is where the branch begins from the Motzfeldt's to the Stenersen lines. My mother's grandmother was Sina Stenersdtr. Hole and is our connection to the Stenersen's. If you think we are related, please email me back. My grandma can read norwegian and translate for me, unless you can post in english. I have also recently contacted a fellow in the USA who is also related to the same Motzfeldt's... rsvp, Dave Grandel bluescat@accesscomm.ca
Hi Jeanne! What you should do is look in to the "husförhörslängd" of Ringarum for one of the years when the children were born (for example 1837, when Andrew/Anders was born) and find the place and then the family. There you will find the dates and places of birth of the parents. The main problem with Ringarum is that it's a quite big parish which means the "husförhörslängd" is most often divided in to two or three volumes for each period! This means you need to know in which part of the parish the croft/farm is situated... (I've ancestors in Ringarum myself, so I know...) If you have the possibility to get all volumes for the actual period, it's not very hard to find the farm since it's an alphabetical register of the farms in most every volume. Hints and tips of how to trace Swedish ancestors can also be found at Rötter: http://www.genealogi.se Have a nice weekend! /Malin nelson wrote: > > Hello, > > I am searching for ancestors and descendants of Johannes Andersson and Anna Maja > Nilsdotter (b. around 1800-1815, probably in Ringarum, Östergötland, Sweden). > Below is the information that I have found on their children. Hello, I am searching for ancestors and descendants of Johannes Andersson and Anna Maja Nilsdotter (b. around 1800-1815, probably in Ringarum, Östergötland, Sweden). Below is the information that I have found on their children. I recently ordered and received from SVAR the 1900 census for two parishes in Sweden. This record was extremely helpful to us in our research. Is there an equivalent to this (either on fiche or roll) in the Family History Center catalog? I have contacted them, but have not heard back from them yet. I searched the lists, but can not find anything that is the same. It is listed in the SVAR catalog under Församlingsböcker as SCB and the year after it. (ie 1900). I want to order more, but I am trying to keep down the costs ($4.00 vs .15 per fiche) because I would need to order so many. Thanks. Gayle N
I thank each and every one of you for help on choice of scanner. Have a good day. Viola.

Good Day I Am not very good in english, but i shall try to answer. The Churhbooks in Vaagan before 1840 burned in 1873 and 1946, when the priest garden burned. It is some other things you can look at, but I can not say it in English. You can ring or Write to Statsarkivet i Trondheim, and they have for example "vaksina- sjonsprotokoller(on norwegian), for the years 1818,1820,1823, 1826, 1830 and 1832 with Vaagan. Her is Writed the Childrens father, and where i n Vaagan the family live.May be you can ask some- one in Statsarkivet in Trondheim, to find Karen Jacobsdatter here? I wouldn't put TOO much importance on the button on the scanner. Mine has a button and I never use it. I have a shortcut on my desktop to my scanner, so I double-click the icon, which is the same as pushing the button. I have to use the mouse then anyway, so why do I need the button. The rest of the advice is excellent. Personally I like Hewlett Packard and I'm certain you can find one in your budget. I took a quick look at the website you were pointing to, but don't see any church records available directly on the Internet for the right period in time. There are confirmation records available for 1841 onwards, but I was not able to spot Karen Jakobsdatter. The best I can suggest is to try the following website: http://www.geocities.com/vaagan_2000/ Amy <amytalley@home.com> wrote in message news:120P5.26212$25.5512149@news1.rdc1.ne.home.com... > In my research today, I stumbled upon some possible birth records for > Vaagen. She also wants all the info on my computer!! First piece of advice: get one with buttons on the unit, itself. This way, you can start a scan just by putting your document on the glass & hitting a physical button. It's more convenient than going through all of the moves to start a scan with a program. What she'll need to know about your computer: PC or Mac? If Mac, what model? If PC, is it running windows? If so, is it 3.1, 95, 98, NT, or 2000? (it tells you this when it starts up). What processor do you have? If it's a 386 or 486, it's probably going to be pretty painful to use with a scanner, as it'll be very, very, VERY slow. How much memory does it have? If you're running windows 95 or later, you should be able to go to the icon "my computer", and right-click on it. It'll tell you how much memory & what processor you have. One last thing - does your computer have a USB connector on the back? If so, get a USB scanner. If not, you can get one that hooks on to the same cable as your printer, but it's slower in my experience than a USB. This should be enough information for her to find the right scanner for you. Good luck, Dave Hinz

Hello, I was fortunate to find a wonderful Attebook for Skjaak, Oppland, Norway with contained many of the farms and genealogies of my family. I was not able to find all of the farms, though. I am still searching for information about Aaspin, Randen (Runden), Staurust, (Staurustberget), Braek. I think they are located in the area of Vaga, Skjaak, or Lom. Does anyone have an Attebook or history of these farms that they would be willing to tell me about or do lookups? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you very much for any help.
