If you want to know more about what you are seeing, you will need a guide book or something. As far as I know, they don't talk about the sights over the PA system. Winter is NOT the best time of year to go by ship along the coast (storms etc), but the view is fantastic anyway. (That said, the newer ships have better stabilizers, so you won't have THAT bad a trip, even if it is a bit choppy.) There is daylight (sun above the horizon) all the way up to Trondheim - although if it is cloudy, you might not get the best lighting for your pictures - but they can turn out very good anyway. You will see quite a bit on the trip from Bergen to Trondheim. The coastal steamer makes stops all along the way and many of them are long enough for you to pop ashore and take a peek. You WILL be able to photograph your ancestral home, but I suggest you bring film with high ASA, so that you will be sure to get details. The longer you stay there, the more chance of a sunny day with great lighting. Have a great trip! Marianne

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to see Oslo and then Bergen, taking a boat tour of the fjords north from Bergen to Trondheim. Also, my ancestors lived just southwest of Trondheim near Aure. I would \like to take pictures there. I just wonder about the amount of light. Will I be able to see anything during the fjord tour? Will I be able to photograph my ancestorial home? I will be traveling to Norway in January for business and I am thinking about site-seeing but I heard it is pretty dark. Are things like a fjord tour out of the question that time of year? Thanks, Mark
I have been informed my ancestors come from Denmark , our surname is Hilley and live in Ireland. Can you help me search for my roots? Regards Mary
Dear Fellow Nordic Researchers: I am looking for a family who moved to the Gravenhurst, Ontario region. Several members of this family were Steamship Master/Captains in the Bracebridge-Bala area of the Muskoka Lakes circa 1835- 1919. Due to language differences or due to poor handwriting; the last name is sometimes spelled "Lawson" instead of Larson or Larsen! I had no idea when I signed up for this site that there would be this many postings. Although I find a great many of them interesting; I do not presently have the time to read them. 1. Is there anyone also searching for this family in Canada? 2. How do I unsubscribe from this service temporarlily?? (I have a problem with all of my emailings just now and with all of the postings here I have a backlog of over 90 messages to sort through) Most Sincerely, Norma Jean Rex (6 feet tall and blonde like my great-grandmother Nancy Larson-Rex who married Christopher Cross Rex in Ontario and later settled in Flint, Michigan USA ) ----- Sent using MailStart.com ( http://MailStart.Com/welcome.html ) The FREE way to access your mailbox via any web browser, anywhere!

There are two kinds of civil registration, one is the copy of the Församlingsbok/husförhörslängd, and exists for 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890, and I am not sure the Mormons yet have the 1900, 1910 and 1920. As the Mormons use the microfilm rolls you will get the whole county, and not just the parish you are interested in . The other kind of civil registration are the yearly extracts from birth, marriages and deaths, and they are also by county by year. SVAR has broken this down into parish units, but the Mormons have the original copies which are by county. Hope this helps! -- Elisabeth Thorsell Swedish genealogist & writer Web site: http://home4.swipnet.se/~w-49407/

Hello, I am wondering, are there any books, written in English, that deal with the history of Göteborg, Sweden and/or the genealogy of the people of Göteborg? Thank you for your time. Regards, Michael
For over 35 years I have been an investigator-researcher of alien abduction and the Nordic type aliens. I have been a godsend to many troubled abductees. However that is beside the point. In my Nordic research I have found that several groups of Swedish/Norwegan ancestry people have contact with the Nordic type aliens. These beings are usually 7 or 8 f;t. tall ,human--like, usually long light colored hair such as blonde, handsome angular faces, often blue eyes that seem bottomless, dressed in either flowing robes or silver skin tight suits. They ae present at abduction scenes and often in charge of the other types of aliens. Experiencers usually meet these being in altered state experiences in their sleep thinking it is a dream. However Nordics do have the phenominal ability to appear in normal daytime environment and it leaves you wondering -- are they in our midst unknown to us? Sometimes they are mistaken for angeles . Sorry t say they are not quiet that at least some arent . Others could be maybe. If you have had any exeriences in and can shed any light on it do contact me at donhelp1@webtv.net
