A few years ago a very special project was launched in Denmark, in which eventually hundreds of voluntary persons and groups started transcribing genealogic sources into a special designed program, and summing up in one large - official - database. Mostly census records, from which the first all-covering in 1787, the next in 1801 and the one in 1845 were among the most popular, having reached coverage around 40% this late summer of 2000. Then it was suggested to put extra attention to the 1801-census, as to celebrate its 200 years anniversary this coming 1st February by being completed in electronic form. And we are happy to inform that the target has been reached! Denmark Census 1801 is now entirely transcribed (only a few records need a bit of proof-reading) and within 1st February they will all be electronic accessible and on-line searchable on the web-site of the Danish Demographic Database - http://ddd.sa.dk "From All Of Us - To All Of You" one might say.... ;-)) Other census records have not suffered from the focus on 1801; the 1787 and 1845 has reached a coverage of 50% in the meantime. Besides being all transcribed by volunteers spread all over the country, the structure is remarkable as the administration and placement of the results are held by an official danish archieve, Danish Data Archieve. This combination and cooperation is spectacular. The Demographic Database also leads to a base of transcribed emigration protocols covering danish (and partly swedish) emigrations from 1868 to 1903. Extension is "under construction"..... But right now we're celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the 1801 census by completing its transcription...... Herman Alfred Larson was my grandfather. He emigrated from Goteborg to Newport Wales [UK] in the late 1800's. He was a marine engineer [merchant seaman] who fell out with his step mother in Goteborg, went to sea, and eventually met and married my grandmother - Annie Pye - in Newport [Wales]. Does anyone know anything about him. I would like to make contact with any family in Sweden. Is there a database of seamen who sailed from Goteborg in the 19th century? Alan Lawson

I'm looking for information regarding Jens Bull who was the "Provost" (Soknepresti) Prefect of Lÿe Parish of Jaederen. He was baptized Feb 17, 1718 in Tonsberg, where his father was a merchant. His father Jacob Bull, had come from Denmark. His mother Marte Ørbech was norwegian, and a allegedly descendant of Halfdan Svarte. He went to school at Helsingør, Denmark, Became student 1736, and bachelor of Divinity from Copenhagen University 1739. Specifically I am looking for confirmation of his life, lineage and descendants. I am related via Akseliane Kristine Bull, mother of Akseliane Kristine Olsdatter Njå who married Hans Håvertsen Westlÿe (also spelled Vestly). Any information would be of interest.
