I am trying to trace g.grandmother, Mina Haugen Sørum's birth records. I have been told by family members that she immigrated from Krogstedelvan, Norway about 1885 to 1892. Dave, Thanks for the response. I have posted a few short pleas for translations on this board with very good results from the good folks out there. I don't want to impose by asking for longer translations. Using Arthur Treschlers free service a number of years ago produced good results and some recent translations from this service shows that the service is alive and well. Related to the Porsgrunn link... I have seen this area in a couple of contexts. I know it is adjacent to my ancestors home in the Bamble and Brevik (Brevig) area in Telemark. I found some very useful links by a lady named Kirstie Sorter, who lives in that area.
