    3. Julie, If you go to this site, they have local histories of the area you are interested in... <http://www.vesterheim.org/genealogy/index.htm> Once at this site, click on "Store"; "Other books"; "Local history" and that should take you to the list of bygdebøkers, which includes 3 volumes for Årdal. I was in the Årdal area last June with the Fjord Heritage Club (Homecoming 2000 tour) and we had a great tour of the area and also saw some of the ancestral gards (farms). <http://www.sffarkiv.no/fhclub/index.asp> Here is the URL for Årdal... <http://www.ardal.kommune.no/> Regards, Ron Baker Bloomington, MN ---Original message--- > [GE-NORDIC] bydeboker - Sogn - Aardalstanger kirk > Thu, 18 Jan 2001 18:33:13 -0600 > From: jtoroe <jtoroe@uswest.net> > > I am interested in purchasing a bydeboker for this area, for > the village of Ardalstangen, and I know there is one > available for this area. The date depends on which country you're talking about. In the twin kingdoms Denmark-Norway we used the Gregorian calendar after the year 1700. In Sweden it was not until 1753 they finally swithced from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. 1 post Trin would means the first Sunday after Trinity. In Denmark-Norway 1706 that would be June 6th.
