Leif, My mistake. I thought that it was spelled "hvit"; I know I've seen it as such. Could this be a Bokmal/Nynorsk difference, perhaps, or is my memory just that faulty? Thanks, Dave Hinz

    3. Thank-you all for the help and links. I believe that I am down to looking at the police records to locate more information through the LDS resources. The Ellis Island records would most likely have been destroyed by fire. Here are more of the links received off-list for those interested: http://www.fortunecity.com/littleitaly/amalfi/13/ships.htm http://www.museumsnett.no/mka/ssa/index1.htm http://www.theshipslist.com/ http://www.cimorelli.com/safe/shipmenu.htm Best regards, Mike. My wife have ancestors in common with Mons. I have looked for Guri Børrildsdatter in the book. I found 3 persons/possibilities, but at the moment i can not determine anything for sure. I will look in the churchbook soon. I hope you can give me some more details. Inge Nødland

    2. The best book of all is "Cradled in Sweden" by Carl-Erik Johannson. Lists every parish and has more information than you can believe ! Published by: Everton Publishers, Inc. P.O. Box 368 Logan, Utah 84321 Or just phone and order the book. Also any Mormon Church which has a 'family history library' can help you. Call one near your home.

    3. Ca. 70 km from Thisted - going east there's a town called Vester Hassing. This town had an inn keeper by the name of Fanoe (Fanø) - a quite dominant person in the area. It's very likely that these people were sailors and therefor got around a lot - and could easily have found the girl of his life in Tønsberg, Norway. All the best, Anni (I'm from somewhere in between Thisted and Vester Hassing)

Jon fikk ialt 6 barn. Etterslekten hans ble boende på Forset i over 300 år.
