I have found this here below: Message by Barry Rosen June 09, 2005 at 06:12:42 I am trying to gather information about my great, great grandfather Knut Rosen who was married in Christiania in the early 1800s. He married Olea (Olia?) Svensen and had at least one child, a son. This known child was named William Arne Rosen and was born on 18/2/1836 in Christiania (Oslo). The son became a merchant seaman and travelled the south seas, marrying Lucy Haydn on 22/7/1872 in Fiji. In this message William's birthdate is the same as you gave up, but the year is different. His birth date was possibly the 18th February 1840 or 1841. His certificate of naturalization in NSW Australia dated 3rd March 1890 had his surname written as Rosin. I have had no success in tracing any information on him or his family (his father was possibly Knut Rosen). Any help or advice would be appreciated. I'm not going to research this. But, if I was, the first thing I would want to read is the "List of Manifest of Alien Passengers for the U.S. immigration officer at Port of Arrival" It would list "final destination", "by whom was passage paid?" amount of money on person, "Whether going to join a relative or friend", also relevant, who was next to them in line.
