    1. [GEN-NORDIC] Norwegian nationalization processes
    2. Bruce Huffine
    3. My Maternal Great Grand Father, Carl Fred Kokeritz, was listed in the census of 1865 as living in Oslo and be a Norgean national. His complete last name was Von Kokeritz which is definitely NOT a Norgean name. USA census records for two sons both indicate that their mother was born in Norway and father was born in Germany which implies that Carl moved to Norway from Germany and became a Norwegan citizen. Are there archival resources in Norway which have the paperwork which was generated by GGF becoming a Norgean Citizen? One last question. The census for 1865 has a column listing of Yrke under which GGF has Kjobmand listed. What does Kjobmand mean? Many Thanks Bruce Huffine Stamford, CT USA

    3. There were eight other passengers who left Bergen with Ludvig on March 25, 1901. Two of them were his paternal uncles Ole and Erik Jetmundsen. Erik was a miner from Alaska, an American citizen. I haven't been able to find any of the nine in Ellis Island records. Do you suppose this bunch went through Quebec, Canada. In 1865 Ludvig's grandfather Gjetmund Monsen and family were living at Høsteland, Lindås, Hordaland; see: <http://www.rhd.uit.no/ftsoek/ftsoek.asp?kommando=bosted&ftaar=1865&spraak=engelsk_britisk&kommnr=1263&kretsnr=0001&bostnr=0043&leilnr=000> Regards, Ed Eide
