The HP 4500 deskjet just purchased for $59 will be returned to the store today. Constant paper jams and no rear access door to clear from the back. It would not take card stock. You get what you pay for. What I am looking for is a copier/fax/scanner/printer all -in-one. I would buy one with wireless feature, looking toward the future although I do not now have a wireless router. I scan quite a bit, print photos, and use card stock often. I've always had an HP and would probably like another HP. Want front loader and not multiple ink cartridges. Have looked at (Amazon and HP site) HP PhotoSmart 7510, given 4 stars on amazon, but there were some critical reviews. Canon PIXMA MG 5320 4 star rating Canon Pima MX 882 4 stars HP Office Jet 6500APlus -- 3 stars and a very critical review. I am likely to have to order from Stapels, Best Buy, Amazon, etc. as I am a couple hours aways from a facility which sells printers. I just need a plain, heavy duty printer that will scan, copy, print what I want it to do. Still running Vista OS... but looking toward the time when computer will be changed, therefore considering the wireless. Would apprecite any help... not only on those listed, but on any good printer. And I still like HP. Wanda Ridg
I have the HP Officejet 6500A Plus and it does everything I need to do and not being a fan of HP for many years I am very pleased. I have two other Epson printers and find the HP superior to them and I have long been an advocate of Epson. The wireless function and the E-print has been great, however I learned that when printing wirelessly not to close the document window until the print is complete as the print is garbled when doing so. That is my only problem I found so far and it is easily overcome, just leave the window open and minimize if I want to continue to do other things. * Jim Hope* On 09/01/2012 10:23 AM, Ridge wrote: > The HP 4500 deskjet just purchased for $59 will be returned to the store > today. I had an HP for several years and had many of the same problems and then I bought a Canon that does have multiple cartridges. The multiple cartridges seem to last longer than just using a black and color cartridge. Off the top of my head I think it is a Canon MP 560. I love this printer. > It does have wireless capabilities but I have never set it up to run on > wireless. It is an all in one and I found it for about the same price as > you paid for the HP. I think this one will print on card stock as paper can be loaded both from the bottom and top. I think the top is for photo and card stock. I just looked it up and even new on ebay it is triple what I remember paying for mine. I would certainly buy another one which is about the best recommendation I can give.
