    3. Some versions of FTM are backwards compatible, but I don't think the last 3 years are, and that's what I have. It looks like versions 5, 6 and 7 will do it. BUT from Ancestry.com: How do I share my Family Tree Maker files with someone using an older version of the program? ANSWER Family Tree Maker is backward-compatible . However, because each version of Family Tree Maker introduces changes to the database structure that were absent in previous versions, an older version of Family Tree Maker cannot open a file created in a newer version. Connie Connie ----- Original Message ----- Paula, I have a copy of Family Tree Maker 4.4 but I don't think it will go on Vista? If one of the tech people on the list will tell me if it would work, I would install and open it. Of course I don't know how to get it to save in a newer version of a Gedcom. Vista is temperamental. Is there anyone that could walk me through it or have another solution?

    3. I may have got this wrong, but doesn't the free Family Archive Viewer convert old ftm files from ver 4 onwards to the latest version? http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/abtffiv.html On 22/01/12 20:24, Connie wrote: > Some versions of FTM are backwards compatible, but I don't think the last 3 years are, and that's what I have.
