I cannot install my new canon mp495 wireless printer in the wireless mode to my laptop(XP). It keeps telling me there is no port to install. This is my current configuration: I have AT&T DSL internet running into an AT&T 2wire832 modem/router combo. Do I need something else? John you need to connect your printer to the modem/router in order for it to operate wirelessly. If you do not have a port to connect to you can purchase a hub with 4 or more ports on it and connect that to the modem/router then connect the printer and the peripheral you had to remove from the modem/router port to connect the hub. You need to install the printer as a network device. Not knowing how your have your systems set up there could be several options. Is your laptop part of a home network?If not you could set up a home network than make sure printer sharing is selected ,etc. You could also set it up as an ad-hoc device if you do not havea home network.
