I always thought the problem with the other printer was that it was not compatible with Vista, and I believe that is the problem with the newer one. All other functions work well and scanning through Paint does work. No wonder Vista did not last long. Other than this problem, I have no complaints with Vista although I probably would not have bought this myself. It was a gift and I never look a gift horse in the mouth...isn't that what's said?
