    3. I have been given many black and white negatives. I would so love to be able to see who all is on them. Is there any way I can do this. Is there a machine that wouldn't cost to much to be able to do this. Thanks for any suggestions. Regina

    3. If you have a scanner you should be able to scan them and then convert them. I have done this a few times and once scanned convert them using the "negative" conversion of a photo program like Irfanview and it turns them into black & white photos. The colour can then be adjusted or brightness. On 09/02/2013 12:51 PM, Regina Pipes wrote: > I have been given many black and white negatives. I would so love to be > able to see who all is on them. 3. Regina, For your B&W negs larger than 35mm, your best solution is to buy a transparency scanner that will scan film negatives up to the size of negative that you have. I have a scanner that will scan negs up to 5x7. Had to do that for negatives from the 1930s. Here is a scanner that will do color 35mm negs and other film negs up to 2.3 inches by 8.6 inches (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-CanoScan-9000F-Color-Scanner/dp/B003JQLHEA/r ef=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1360441109&sr=1-2&keywords=large+nega tive+scanner6cm x 22cm) The above scanner also has software that causes the scanner to scan in a manner that removes scratches and dust defects. You can use image software to turn the negative scan into a positive. There is a way to take pictures of negatives with a digital camera with fairly good results. I've done it before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RejaetB-g-o The key is having an even light distribution behind the negative when taking a picture of it.. I like to have the light diffusion material at least 3 to 6 inches behind the negative to make it well out of focus.
