Joyce, Be careful and use the information just for clues to find your ancestors. It is a great site for finding clues and some records but do your own research and find the original records for yourself. I looked at my family tree on there and it is full of mistakes, both names and dates and some not complete information. I have all my original records and some of the records on family search were copied wrong with both names and dates. Best of luck with your research janet -----Original Message----- From: Joyce Ann Junkin <[email protected]> To: gen-newbie <[email protected]> Sent: Thu, Mar 21, 2013 6:55 am Subject: [GN] familysearh website I was wondering what is the website address for finding research of families that you use to get from the Morman site. I do not want the index familysearch.org. People use to put the research of their families o line to the Mormon site. This is what I used to trace back my ancestors to the 1600's. (just to get an idea). Sure. Online trees are a group effort - today we'd say they're crowdsourced. So - everyone puts up what they know. You might know that the mother's name was: Mary Someone else might know that it was: Mary Alice Starbird Great - with data and updates flowing in we can get each person accurately entered - what a great approach. Best of all it is free at: https://familysearch.org/ When you see your family on there - improve it. Add more details and especially add the source citations and if possible links so that others can see the rationale for your conclusions. Notice too that you can add photos - what a great way to preserve and share those. Many hands make light work - so let's all pitch in to get our data online, shared and preserved.
