I will assume you mean "bing" which is internet explorers default search engine. One of the things with Bing it is also the the default search engine used on many web pages,,It is usually very prominently displayed on web pages that use it. That doesn't mean you have to use it, but it does lead some to think they have to. First you need to make sure that you have told IE that you want to use another search engine, and again I assume you want to use google. You have to go into IE's control panel and select "manage" add ons. from that menu you need to search for more providers, select your choice and add it to IE. than make that choice your default search engine. The confusion is that even though you have made it the default search engine you will still see Bing being offered on any web page that uses bing for the default. If you have selected and added a different search engine to IE you type your search request in the regular web address box . If you look you should see a G ( for google)in a blue background box, below where you are typing and it will ask you if you want to use suggestions from it,.A lot of the confusion is that if you don't want to use bing when it is offered on a web page you now have to type your search request in the address bar.. Thanks a lot George I do use google a lot but my other computers always had i think windows live seach only had this one two weeks and it is default, from what you say is it worth altering its just a bit unsightly but I dont want to mess anything up so soon thank you Doreen
