    3. Took a look around regarding this Nomorerack thing. To start with when they first deployed the website they didn't really have a very secure site due to the coding which resulted in it being hacked and causing a lot of people to start calling it a scam..Not really true, but than again not to far from being true depending on your point of view. I say this because from the beginning they have received a flood of complaints regarding everything from the quality of products sold to refunds ,contacting for order info , etc, and you can see where this is all going. It never had a good rep from the beginning and the hackers added a couple of more faults to it by putting hidden code in the site which caused other problems so lets start with how did you get this on your system,,,and 99% of you got it from clicking I like on a some social media site . I know most of you will deny this, but the truth of the matter is yes you did. Think about how many times somebody or some so called interesting topic or video has shown up on your social media page, and you watch some cute little puppy doing a dance and it asks you to like it. Or how about the picture of the little baby with stches all down his chest pleading for you to like the page because some company will give 1$ for every like 5 dollars for every share,,humm.. and you think to yourself I have good protection on my system what can it hurt to share or like. Now how many of youyr really know what your security settings are on FB ( I'll use them as the example although there are others)?? do you have everything as locked down as you would like? How many of you use FB apps,,, those cutsey games and are they locked down or did you even look at what they are allowed to do...sneaking little stuff down there in the fine print of the Ula that says you grant them the right to use your friends list to make offers etc...Internet marketing is the bread and butter for all these apps and the more visits, like, shares they can garner allows them to charge more fro their service.. Its not a virus or trojan, and it is not directly a browser hijack, but it can lead to all those things as there is money in it. or me it is not a problem to disallow all apps,,. I hate there games and have yet to see and app that’s worthwhile and so far have better open source free and secure software that covers everything offered and a whole lot more. All I can say is the user is responsible for there own security. I don't trust links , especially when it involves selling products,,I investigate the site buy checking the URL and the name in another window. The biggest problem with getting rid of something you got from FB is you just about have to make FB get rid of it...done with my rant, and I'll put my box back in the closet Cheers george & the SixPack -----Original Message----- From: Les Hardy Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2014 3:28 PM To: gen-newbie@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GN] Take a look at this GEN-NEWBIE Suzy, Use the reset button and reset the password. You will then at least be able to access the account and prevent anyone else using it. You may also be able to remove any details about you. I can't say if you would be able to cancel the account. If nomorerack is as bad as people suggest, then they probably don't allow closing accounts. I can say one thing for certain, nomorerack only allow a single instance of an email address to be registered, and your current email address is definitely registered there. So if you can access it, no-one else will be able to use the same email address again. I once had a similar problem. I could access an account, but I could not remove my email address. I could only change it to another. So, I created a temporary fictitious email address somewhere else (can't remember where), and change the email address to that.
