Beth and Rana Beth is absolutely correct, but what Rana wants is to have the default "style" to be single spacing, not the 1.15 spacing that Word uses as the default. I just did some further checking and found something that, so far, works. Forget the styles for now. The place Beth recommended is the place to be, but that does not make a default change. Open up a blank document. Click on the button that controls the line and paragraph spacing. Choose "line spacing options" and adjust the before/after paragraph spacing to "0" and the "Line spacing" to "single." At the bottom click on "set as default." Say "ok" It worked for me in 2013, and since the instructions I found were for 2010, I think this will work. I'm going to try the same thing for Publisher, since it really drives me nuts!
