My question too, Beth. I have no problem with the laptop I have now. I doubt it would upgrade to Win 7. But even if it did, I have an old version of FTM on here for one of my families that I don't add to often, but do reference. And an old version of RootsMagic for the other side of my family. If I could upgrade, would I be able to access these programs? No way do I want the expense of a new computer, etc., as my kitchen range just quit. I wish someone would "take over XP"; I am betting they would have more business than they could handle. I am so upset about this that I am seriously thinking of going with Mac...if I have to buy a bunch of new software, then I hate to give the money to Microsoft.
