A quick check of the Costco web site shows that most, if not all show desktops having 1 or 2 terabytes on their hard drive, your 1.6 gb of pictures would take up negligible space. That being said, I have all my pictures on an external hard drive for safety's sake in case of a disk failure. I also burn a DVD of all my pictures every six months or so to keep my daughter up to date on the picture files. I know I should buy a new computer(desktop) since I am using my older XP. I have 1.6 GB's of pictures on my computer. Wondering if I bought an external hard drive( or a flash drive) would it make sense to store all my pictures on it and would it free up 1.6 GB of memory??Thanks, John ____________________________________________________________ Never Eat This Carb Literally Never! 1 Easy Tip to Increase Fat Burning, Lower Blood Sugar http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/5320ecb0516646cb06758st04vuc ******************** Gen-Newbie's website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~newbie/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GEN-NEWBIE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Wayne, I am not your correspondent but you have reminded me of a question I need to ask:what is meant to "burn a DVD? My computer skill is next to non-existent and info on web is tech-type. Thank you for any consideration you may give to directing me to very simple source of information. Wayne I have been wondering. Im about to back up to a external hard drive. I lot of photos will be backed up again. I have added more to the folders. Should I just delete the ones I have on the external H D because they will be added again on this back up? If you have enough room on the drive, I would copy/backup all the files/folders and when you are sure the copy was successful, delete the old files.
