Thanks all. I was able to add suggested favorites to chrome bookmark bar by right clicking an empty area on the bar and pasting the site there and it remembers it..john ---------- Original Message ---------- From: gen-newbie-request@rootsweb.com To: gen-newbie@rootsweb.com Subject: GEN-NEWBIE Digest, Vol 9, Issue 101 Date: Mon, 14 Apr 2014 01:00:24 -0600 Today's Topics: 1. re help with google chrome bar right under search area (Cora Henricks) 2. renewal (Mary Finley) 3. There is an icon at the LEFT end of that URL. Drag that icon to the bar. You will see a vertical line where that icon can be dropped. When you have it dragged to where you want it, let go, and it will drop there. If you make a lot of these ?shortcuts?, only so many (5-6) will display at one time. To the far right of that bar, just to left of the manila folder icon labelled ?Other bookmarks? you will see >>. If you click on >> you will be shown any ?shortcuts? there is not room for on the bar in a "dropdown" box. Cora ----------------------------------- John wrote: Subject: Hi. I posted a query about my sick computer just this week and got immediate suggestions! See how wonderful this list is! What do you think about beginning anew an old idea? What is an area where you may possibly offer answers? I have a fairly good grasp of the records of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. I also recommend www.lalley.com where you will find a terrific collection of records from the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington. There is sometimes a connection between Philadelphia and Wilmington. My greats Thomas and Catherine MULLEN FITZGERALD married1846 at St. John the Evangelist, Phila. A record of Catherine's conversion from Presbyterian to Catholic is found there in 1847. Their 1st two children were baptized 1846 and 1847 at St. Peter, Wilmington, DE. The remaining five are found in Phila. records. Unfortunately, the Catholic records for Philadelpha cannot be searched on-line, but they are available. Perhaps I can help another person. Any interest? In the past week when it opens it covers the entire screen. I can get to the Red X and the back button but I have to put the cursor up there in either the right or left corner. I also covers the tray at the bottom. I have to minimize the screen to see the start tray. How can I get it to behave like it did before without hogging the entire screen? Chrome behaves but the ancestry window so small I can't read it. Several months ago Ancestry suggested I try another browser which solved the problem. IE keeps bugging me that I am using an out of date version; I don't even like IE. using Windows XP ------------------------------ To contact the GEN-NEWBIE list administrator, send an email to GEN-NEWBIE-admin@rootsweb.com.
