Anyone using a spreadsheet to do transcribing of census or parish records may be interested in a free application I developed a few years ago. GenScriber is a desktop application, designed for transcribing genealogy documents from images of census registers, church/parish records etc. It does not have any of the problems spreadsheets have. Such as changing dates. We used it in-house for about 18 months, and found it so useful, it seemed a shame to keep it to ourselves. I released to the public 5 months ago. GenScriber is free. It does not need installing. It will even run from a pendisk. Just unzip it and run it. If anyone is interested, it can be downloaded from http://www.genscriber.com A login is required to download, but the registration is simple. It is only there to keep spammers away. Les Hardy
