    3. I too know nothing about WiFi. Is the download of a book free? I wouldn't think so. I gave my sister a wifi only Kindle for Christmas last year. She called Geek Squad and they set up wifi in her home because she had internet connection for her computer, it just wasn't wireless. The Geek Squad loved her Kindle and she loves not having to go to the library. I know others who use their libraries and I believe one uses his McDonald's. Our new Kroger's store even has a few tables and chairs close to the entry that is for wifi users. I have also seen car service areas that advertise wifi for their customers. So keep your eyes open for wifi in all areas. Marilyn On Sun, Nov 6, 2011 at 3:15 AM, ETM <etm1935@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Jean, > > You also may not need much to set it up at home. Then I bought a MAGIC JACK, with the intension of adding it to the wall phone plug, but it says has to plugged into the p/c...huh? Won't any phone plug work on it? Have had it for several years, 3 or 4? It uses our broadband and it works fine, as long as someone isn't 'using' the computer the MJ is plugged into. We have it on the less powerful of our two main computers. I have my gmail as the contact email, so when someone phones and we don't answer the voice message is left on my gmail account. That part is sort of crappy, but at least we know there was a call and can phone back if we can't understand the message. We all already have cell phones, already pay too much for those, so I saw no reason to keep paying 40 a month for the land phone. melissa On Sun, Nov 6, 2011 at 5:43 PM, Blondie Mock <ZooKeeperss@webtv.net> wrote: > Well, gang, made a leap of faith...After the last dr. visit and a clean > health record, my 1st stop was the Verizon show case, now have a new > Iphone-4, oh, that's fun, then signed up for wi-fi and its now > installed, but I am so far behind in anti- virus ware, its been 3 days > installing, (whew), now waiting to install my NETGEAR USB port, package > says can't until the updates are installed, ok, I wait some more! I had one of the original ones that plug into a computer that was on a dedicated computer. When that computer went bad, I ordered the new Magic Jack Plus that only uses the computer to register it and then it connects into a power supply, the phone, and a LAN cable. They both work very well, but the newer one is a lot cheaper on the electrical power to use. Bruce -- Registered Linux user number 482434.
