Well I did find a good official Naval Site for the history of the various ships. Now I wonder how any of them were still on the McCawley's muster rolls in March 1943 as the McCawley was sunk in February 1943. I checked the ranks and they all refer to Carpenter's Mate and that was his major duty for the majority of his career. The other had to do with fire control.
