I have a $50. birthday gift begging to be spent. I am thinking of the $79. Kindle. I was told they were able to reduce the cost by removing the keyboard feature. Is that something I could do without? My only interest is loading books to read during vacations. Other family members have Nooks chosen because of ease downloading from our local library. Mary, there is an on-screen keyboard, just not the special keyboard add-on which I htink is useless with my eyesight and arthritic fingers. I actually prefer the on screen keyboards. I may purchase the $79 Kindle yet, it's pretty cool, and its ads are for good things that manyo f us will buy with a discount. The ads are barely noticeable replacing what would be screen-savers, I wouldn't hesitate to do the Kindle with special offers. The only limitation I really see to this Kindle is that there is no sound. I do occasionally use my eReaders for audiobooks. It can't do that. Elaine "When there is no real hope we must mint our own.
